Little Things

That morning cup of coffee,

The sunshine and the breeze.

Letters from my pen pals,

The flowers and the trees.

Spending time with mum,

We laugh, we chat, we joke.

Helping out my closest friends,

Connecting with spoonie folk.

Going out once a week,

Even just for an hour.

Managing to make my own bed,

Tackling that unaided shower.

Eating all the chocolate,

Giving yourself a treat.

Snuggling under a blanket,

With fluffy socks on your feet.

Hoping for the future,

Breathe and breathe and breathe.

Think of all you’ve yet to do,

And what you can achieve.

The joy is in the little things,

The stuff you may not see.

But looking back you’ll realise,

They meant the world to me.
